SAHBA’s Spring Home & Patio Show April 5-7

Tucson, AZ (February 28) – This year’s Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA) Spring Home and Patio Show is set for April 5, 6 and 7 at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC). Free parking will be available at all TCC lots.

The SAHBA Stage will be focused on health and wellness for both you and your home with daily presentations on how to ensure a safe and healthy home environment.  Experts will be on hand to discuss tips on everything from smoke detection,  to heating and cooling, solar, LED lighting, spa therapy and swimming fitness.

When you enter the main entrance to the exhibition hall you’ll be greeted by Home Depot hosts who will be handing out keys for the Home Depot door display.  If your key fits, you can win gift cards, equipment, discount coupons and other great stuff.

At the show, Home Depot will provide a variety of home improvement presentations, home gardening classes and spring planting tips.  Experts will be teaching topics on outdoor illumination and ways to enhance your outdoor patio. Be sure to also check out the Great Drill Skill Challenge co-sponsored by Home Depot and Bosch.

Saturday is Kids’ Clinics Day where children ages 5 to 12 can visit Home Depot’s Little Helper Headquarters and participate in a free hands-on workshop learning do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and just have good old fun.

On Saturday the REACT group from the University Of Arizona College Of Medicine will teach chest compression CPR technique. Mid-Valley Athletic Club will be hosting health SilverSneakers presentations, fitness demos, nutrition presentations and massage demos throughout the weekend. They’ll be giving away free pedometers to track your steps at the show. At the exit give them your number of steps walked and be entered into a drawing for an iPAD.

Home craft experts from Michaels Where Creativity Happens will be on hand from 10 AM to 2PM each day for lively demonstrations on knitting and crochet techniques, jewelry and bead-making, how to create memorable scrapbooks and home baking hints. From 12 PM to 3 PM on Saturday and Sunday Michael’s will host a FREE kids’ make- it and take-it crafts and face painting.

Saturday is Mad Science Day. This high energy, action packed show is filled with fascinating interactive demonstrations and chemical reactions and is a must see event for every kid from five to twelve years of age.  And moms and dads will be knocked out, too, by this spectacular science show!

Back for a repeat performance is the Central Pet Experience who will take over the show’s arena area.  Pima Animal Care Center will return there, too, with pet adoptions all weekend. At SAHBA’s Fall Home and Garden Show, over 30 pet adoptions were made, making it the largest offsite pet adoption ever conducted on behalf of Pima County.

Local veterinarians will be on the Central Pet stage talking about health and wellness of your pet.  Also on stage will be pet agility training demonstrations, K9 Nose Work demonstrations, protection training, basic grooming techniques, tips on how to crate train your dog and how pet therapy can facilitate the healing process.

Other show highlights include: Tucson Clean & Beautiful Re-Used Materials Becoming Art competition (RUMBA) featuring professional and aspiring recycling artists; a drawing to win a free custom set of golf clubs from Superior Golf Products; and Rosie Romero’s Rosie on the House live radio broadcasts.

This year’s major sponsors include Patio Pools & Spas, Home Depot, Southwest Gas, Kinetico Water Systems, Mattress Firm and Central Pet.

The Tucson Convention Center (TCC) is located at 260 South Church Avenue. Free public parking is available at all TCC lots.  Show hours are 10 AM to 7 PM Friday and Saturday and 10 AM to 5 PM Sunday.

$2 off discount admission coupons are available at  General admission is $8 for adults; children 12 and under are free.  On Friday half-price admissions are available for those ages 50 and over.  Half-price military discounts are available all weekend with proper ID.
